Ethiopian Hawker

Type locality: Antoto, north of Addis Abeba, Ethiopia

Diagnosis

Male is similar to P. meruensis by (a) stem of black mark on frons round and surrounded by pale area like bull’s-eye; (b) Pt 2.5-3.5 mm, under 8% of Hw length; (c) membranule grey, almost without white at base; (d) anal triangle of 2 cells, although occasionally 3; (e) genital lobe short and triangular, apex pointed. However, differs by (1) being restricted to Ethiopia and presumably W Sudan; (2) genital lobe curved, apex twisted downwards. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]

Habitat description

Streams shaded by gallery forest, but possibly also in open landscapes. Usually with rocks, probably especially faster sections with overhanging branches and/or dead trunks or branches. From 1200 to 3000 m above sea level, but possibly down to 700.
