Diagnosis
Similar to other Umma species by (a) labium all black in stead of pale; (b) humeral and interpleural sutures enclosed in metallic areas, at most with pale traces; (c) wings clear; (d) Fw discoidal field 1 row only well proximal to node, 15-25 cells wide on wing border; (e) base of anal vein directed towards wing base. However, differs by (1) occuring from Angola and N Zambia to Katanga; (2) anterior face of basal segment of antenna all pale; (3) legs, Pt and poststernum (when not pruinose) metallic green, blue or violet. Habitat description
Streams shaded by gallery forest, but sometimes also in open landscapes. Mostly with a sandy and/or often gravelly bottom and probably submerged roots and/or coarse detritus. From 600 to 1900 m above sea level, but mostly between 1100 and 1400.
